The Ancient Codex is a reading site. It is built as static pages, and it is designed to collect as little about you as possible.
What we collect when you browse
Nothing that identifies you. The Codex sets no tracking cookies, runs no advertising, and uses no third-party analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and request time) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; these are handled under the host's own policies.
What we collect when you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address, a topic and your message. We use those only to read, reply and act on what you tell us. We do not sell them and we do not add you to a marketing list.
When you submit the form, those details are passed to our own enquiries system, a private service we run to manage correspondence, over an encrypted connection. It is not a third-party marketing or CRM product, and your message is not shared further.
The Pocket Codex waitlist
The app page has a waitlist. If you join it we keep your name and email address for one purpose: to tell you once when the app is available. That is the only message you will get, and you can ask us to remove you at any time through the contact page.
Third parties your browser contacts
Loading a page fetches photographs from our own image storage, and any page with a map fetches map tiles from OpenFreeMap. Those services receive your IP address and browser details, as any server does when you request a file from it. Neither sets a cookie and neither is used to profile you. Fonts are served from this site rather than from a third-party font service. Details are on our cookies and third parties page.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you (in practice, only any correspondence), and ask us to correct or delete it via the contact page. If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can also complain to your data-protection regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. See also our cookie policy and terms.
